Pubbing and Jams

Sep 27 2010

We've now decided to mix up the format of the weekly Cambridge meet up a little bit. The last tuesday of every month (that's tomorrow at the time of wiring) will be a drinking and social meet up. Then the first tuesday of every month will be a combination of an optional game jam along with a show and tell where you can demonstrate to everyone else what you've been up to for the past month. We're hoping even if you can't make it every week these specific monthly events might give you reason to make the effort.

The venue for our first pub meetup with be the Tram Depot in Cambridge. Map here: http://bit.ly/abZPqf We'll be there from 5pm. If you want to show up earlier in the day we'll be at CB2 as per usual until just before 5pm.

Brains and Dares

Jul 6 2010

We had a bit of a last minute jam added to the site with the Brain Eden Jam happening at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Teams of students worked together for 24 hours to produce some really stunning games, so check those out.

The next big event will be Ludum Dare 18, starting on Saturday 21 August and running through until the evening on Sunday. Everyone taking part in Ludum Dare will have 48 hours to make a game. This event has participants all across the world and a few us will be gathering at the CB2 Bistro for the duration. This worked really well last time around and had a great communal atmosphere encouraging you to get something done. So please come along if you'd like to make something that weekend.

And I would be remiss if I didn't constantly remind everyone of our weekly Tuesday meet-ups also at CB2 in Cambridge. Open to everyone, click on the event name below for more details.

End of the Love

Jun 27 2010

The World of Love weekend has come to an end, after some great talks on Friday followed by a weekend of intense jamming. We did four sessions over two days and it was great that we had a real variety of attendees who haven't been to jams before. Even including games journalists such as Kieron Gillen and Alice O'Connor who came along and made games. There were a lot of unfinished projects but most of what people did finish has been uploaded to the site so check those out.

We don't have another UK jam fully planned yet, but a bunch of us are going to BIGJam in Berlin at the start of August. We're also talking about doing more London jams maybe once every two months and are more than likely to run a Cambridge jam over the course of the Ludum Dare 18 weekend. (Which we suspect will be in August too)

So for more jam announcements keep an eye on this site or the TIGJams section of the TIGSource forums.

TIGJamUK3 Over

Jun 8 2010

Well TIGJamUK has finished once again and the site is now full of all sorts of amazing games. Not every game made at the event has been posted but from my count we have at least 65 here, and some really fantastic stuff.

The next big jam is only a few weeks away following the indie gaming conference World of Love in London. Don't know how we're going to top the output from this weekend.

Also a reminder to anyone in and around Cambridge that you're welcome to join us for our weekly Tuesday meet ups in CB2, whether you're anything from student to a hardened industry vet if you make indie games then come along. We use the tag #cb2indies on Twitter to discuss the meetups.

Hello, good evening and good night!
